Fish stock management and monitoring in De Leijen

As part of the control of eutrophication in de Leijen in the Netherlands, we carried out biological management. This involved assessing and removing part of the fish stock in order to allow the ecosystem to recover. The aim was to increase the visibility of the water and to stimulate underwater vegetation development.
The monitoring of the fish stock was an important part of this project and enabled the effectiveness of the management measures to be evaluated. This project was carried out on behalf of Wetterskip Fryslân.
