New European legislation tackles invasive alien species
On the 16th of April, the European Parliament voted in support of new legislation aimed at reducing the economic and ecological damage caused by invasive alien species.
Alien species and plants and animals, such as the Asian tiger mosquito, will be less easy to transport into the EU. Proposals plan to banish species that are costly for the EU. Furthermore, member states of the EU must work together to reduce the prevalence of these species.
