Course "Environmental Impact Assessments"
- Course participants EIA, UMPATTI University of Ambon
Bureau Waardenburg gave, together with the company Witteveen+Bos and Saxion Academy, a course at the University of Pattimura, in Ambon, Indonesia.
We trained teachers of the university to write a Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). An EIA is an international method to determine the effects of a planned activity on the environment and wildlife.
Wouter Lengkeek and Dille Wielakker of Bureau Waardenburg have talked in their lessons about possible ecological effects of activities in the tropical rainforest and in coastal areas like mangrove woods and coral reefs. Possible activities are fishing, the harvesting of wood, eco-tourism and the building of mines and roads.
The course was financed by Nuffic. This Dutch organisation helps "linking knowledge Worldwide"
