Urban water management
Ponds and watercourses are important elements in the ecological network within a city. Bureau Waardenburg gives well-balanced advice on water management in urban development and restructuring programmes. Measures for improvement of water quality and a more natural arrangement of the water system are standard considerations that are taken into account. Measures to improve water quality can consist of retaining clean rain or ground water and / or using the natural purifying ability of swamp and water plants. It is important for the survival of fish during winter to have enough deep water. But a wide and shallow zone is important for the development of water plants and swamp plants.
The bureau has extensive experience in research, management and the construction of helophyte filters and natural riverbanks. The bureau can advise on the best type of vegetation, and on the arrangements of helophyte filters in many different situations, as well as calculate the surface area required. |
