Impact assessment studies Monitoring and evaluation Monitoring is a valuable tool to investigate (changes in) the ecological quality of an ecosystem and to evaluate the effects of the measures taken to realise a target situation.
As it is not possible to collect data from every location and at every moment, the monitoring system is necessarily based on samples. Samples must be taken in such a way that the results of the monitoring represent the ecosystem concerned.
Bureau Waardenburg advises by setting up monitoring systems and can evaluate them by means of geostatistical techniques.
Data from monitoring systems need to be processed and interpreted accurately. For this reason, knowledge of biotic and abiotic processes, as well as knowledge of spatial and statistical analysis, is required. Bureau Waardenburg has carried out many monitoring studies regarding vegetation, birds, aquatic invertebrates, fish and sea mammals. We use a systematical approach in processing and interpreting the data.In this approach the interrelation is determined of different groups of the ecosystem. Bureau Waardenburg also conducts studies into (long-term) changes in flora and fauna, eco-hydrological system analysis, studies into the effects of different human activities and evaluates the results. |
