Apart from a broad ecological expertise, Bureau Waardenburg also possesses exceptional knowledge and facilities in the fields of spatial analysis and presentation. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are important tools for this. Spatial modelling and statistics are applied to support the spatial analysis. Maps can be scanned, processed and delivered in either Arcview files or Autocad files. High quality maps and posters can be produced in large (colour) format.

Local topography plays an important role in many ecological issues. Therefore, spatial analysis of data can be an important part of ecological research. Bureau Waardenburg describes ecosystems in a qualitative and quantitative way by means of surveys, modelling and specialist knowledge. Subsequently, Geographic Information Systems can be used to analyse the data concerning local topography and to obtain insight into the way in which they interrelate.

Geographic Information Systems can play a major role in predicting the effect of a spatial activity. Examples are the calculation of the effects of soil displacement in nature restoration plans or the effects of the broadening of highways on the present state of the environment. Our expert knowledge facilitates easy insight into these effects. If desired, Geostatiscal packages can be used to assess the reliability of the predictions. Geographic Information Systems are used to convert the results to the spatial dimension.
